T5 ballast/kitchen ballast ?
Jason and I are in the process of modifying our light fixture from compact lights to T5s. We stopped at HD to pick up a light fixture that had double set end caps :

Now I have access to a T5 HO ballast but I was wondering, would a conventional kitchen t5 light ballast be enough to efficiently run just your standard T5 saltwater bulb?

We're not planning on running it with the kitchen ballast, we just needed the endcaps. It was cheaper to buy it this way then online + shipping.

Hmm would it be easier just to swap the ballasts out with a h/o ballast?

Yeah it is. We have a ballast, we were just wondering if you'd be able to run it?
Do they make separate t5 ballast and HO ballast? Or are they the same?

Yes they have a low output ballast which will power one h/o bulb and the highoutput ballast

One powers a 28 watt or two. The HO will power one or two 54 watt ( if we are talking about 46" lamps)

I've seen some cheap ones on ebay. I wanted to do an affordable t5 setup and used some. I have some Chinese ones and they're been doing great on my tank. I've had them since December.
