Need advice!!

Hello to all,

I finished setting up my 210g RR (dual overflow) aquarium, and added about 150 # of live sand and as of right now 100# of LR. It seems I forgot one simple step and now I need some advice. I forgot to check if the aquarium was leveled and now the left side overflow (drain) is functional and the water is not draining on the right. The return plumbing is working properly on both sides. My question is can I operate the tank as is since it is somewhat functioning w/ 1 overflow drain working or do I have to level off the stand/tank? Believe me when I say I am dreading draining the tank and removing the sand and rock. But if its needed I will do it. Mind you it will be running as a FOWLR as I have my reef set up in another tank.

Man, I would hate to have dual overflows and not be able to use both of them as intended. Especially if something goes wrong and a snail decides to climb in and clog up the one functioning overflow.

I'm sure it will be a PITA to break down the tank, but your piece of mind down the road may be worth it.

the problem is not the overflow but the added stress to one side of the tank and the risk of blowing glue joint. if its that bad to where a overflow is not functioning i would worry. how many inches in difference is the water line from one side to the other?

seems odd that it would be so off level that one overflow wouldn't even be draining...if it's that off I would surely drain the sytem and level it up. I also always use contractor foam between the tank bottom and the stand to help level the tank out and to prevent any pressure from imperfections.

I would re level the whole tank. Your only asking for problems otherwise. I know it's a pain but necessary IMO.

i say level it to..
im sure its nothing to u but if u need some help pm me..iv had this happen to me once..it helped me too bs with some 1 while we were doing it lol ..

Thank You all for your advice. I am going to level the tank. I measured it and it is a 3/8" difference of the water level when comparing right and left side overflows. I think it is the stand that is off and not the floor. Again thanks for your advice.

Okay, the floor not level because of foundation and shimming the tank to correct it is one thing, but the tank being out of level because of the stand is a big problem. Do you have a level? Check the floor, and then check the top of the stand, and then check the top of the tank. Compare them to figure out what is level and what is not. The stand HAS to be level. I had a 210 crack the front pane a few months ago, I'd hate to see the same thing happen to you. It took 5 weeks for the tank to fail, but it did.

I'd offer you a 55 to help save some of the water but I see you're not really close.
