fairy dust grow like crazy...almost a pest unless you keep it on an island or some way of keeping it from the rest of your reef. They will choke out other zoa colonies and grow on anything they can touch. We would sell 10+ polyp frags for $10 on average. Members trade them here and also sell for around $5-$10 a frag...I've seen lots of members give them away for free as well.

High light and they are pretty, low light and they wash out like already mentioned. These used to be a highend paly until people realized how fast they grow. Similar in growth to GSP, Xenia, Kenya Trees, Yellow Polyps etc.

That polyp that I got from you has completely over run the rock I put it on. One half polyps and then blastos on the other side.

Blastos are doing great although one kanked on me the other day.

Dude, if you're interested in going into the fragging business I'd go ahead and put a $5 note to each frag. Five or so polyps to each frag. They sell, great. They don't, take them in for store credit... and that's great too. This hobby can be danged expensive without the fragging to offset the cost. It can be fun, until you have to do 30 single polyp frags, then it's just a PITA.

Do you know which stores would give store credit? Or do I just need to call to find out? I was thinking that price. I would frag them then let them start to grow a little before selling so that they are all attached well and starting to grow new polyps which wouldnt take long at all.

Just about all of them run some form of credit based on what you drop off, there are differences between them as far as how they run the program. Wish they'd post up on their forum threads as to what they accept or what they don't.

I've dropped off at ER and TT. I was going to drop off at AD at one point, but they tend to 'order' more than accept. I think it's because there you get credit up front which gives them the liability as to whether it will sell or not. TT is strictly consignment, which I really like because if my stuff doesn't survive I don't want to take credit for it. ER does a combination of the two depending on dialogue with Louis.

I'm sure others do it as well, but I've not had the opportunity to check anyone out. Todd took me down to TT a couple of years ago and I've sort of fell into a routine.

I will say this about fragging though... you frag one frag and you will have one success. You frag five, you will most likely have five successes. You frag 20 and you can expect some to just disapear or die off. It's odd to see a rack full of coral frags... and a few of them are just empty frag plugs.

I understand. I need to get my 10 gallon hooked up to my main system. I have a 50/50 light that should work since its rated for more then a 10 gallon tank. I have everything I need to run this frag tank. I just need to figure out where to put it since the wife doesnt want it setting out in the open. I can put it in my tank room which is where my sump is housed (behind the main tank wall under the stairs). I have to figure something out soon before these polyps over grow everywhere.
