The crazy drive went from NTFS to FAT to RAW. I used File Scavenger to salvage my pictures, the drive is now in the trash! I hate stuff like this, it gives me a headache.

FWIW, you should definitely invest in an offsite backup agent, like backblaze, carbonite, or mozy. I believe they are all $5/mo for unlimited storage, at least backblaze is, that's what I use. That way if the computer breaks, burns, or gets stolen, you still have all your data. I'd be screwed if I lost all my data.

I did get all of my pictures back, unfortunately I also acquired Beelzebub on my computer in the form of a file that could not be cast out (filename too long, can't delete, blah, blah, blah). After spending some quality time with command prompt I finally dug my way to the file and exorcised it with the del command.
I hate Windows. It shouldn't be this hard to get rid of a file I Do Not Want.
