Default Hiatt Torpedo Filter - anyone have one?

I'm not SURE I should have posted it in this forum, but what the heck.

After a couple of recent tank crashes around here, I thought I'd see if anyone still has one of these. I kept one in my garage for about 2 years, ready to go in case someone crashed. Then I put it into my discuss system, where I can't easily take it out. And yes, it works great. I've often wondered if the guys on "Tanked" use a similar system.

So, if someone has one sitting around, I'd be happy to donate all of the parts (pump, tubing, etc. plus a bottle of Right Start bacteria) to make a MAAST Crash Cart available.

Thanks Bill, that's very generous of you. Nothing can strip organics, and toxins from water like a Hyatt.

Funny enough, we have a Hyatt in the garage (looks like a big red fire hydrant). We just don't have any of the required pelletized carbon or the bacteria. I did have some of the bacteria which I used directly in the tank. Any idea what to use as media or where to locate the carbon and bacteria? I always just thought it was a really big carbon reactor.

Oh, not. That's really not funny at all!

I'll spring for the 10 lbs of TBC and the Right Start, and supply the pump and fittings if y'all will be the contact point for it all? The bacteria will need to be kept in the freezer - and whoever uses it is then responsible for replacing it.

    How does that sound?

Yea, we originally purchased that Hyatt from Jose. Monkey-- with the 240 setup he had. We sold it to yall. Mike. Glad it is going to good use now.

Wish I had thought of it earlier so we could have used it for our crash. I loaned it previously to Erik when he was having an issue and it had been sitting in the garage now for a while. I have no issue offering it up for use by MAASTARDS going through a crash. We have no trouble being the POC for it. Great idea Bill. Hopefully we can kick our crash soon...

Still got my Hiatt as well with 10lbs of tri-carbon that's almost brand new. I'm willing to offer it offer it to anyone that needs it, but I don't have the bacteria starter or a suitable pump.

Bill, you mentioned the bacteria needs to be kept in a freezer. I've only stored mine at room temps and not in a fridge/freezer.

I'm just thinking back to my college days. Bacteria keep very well in very, very cold environments. Not so well at room temp.

I don't mind storing my torpedo with the equipment library. Where can I drop it off?

Cory, just post the availability in the Equipment Library forum but keep possession and list yourself as the contact or custodian or whatever the term would be. Then make sure Jack (txav8r) and Justin (justahobby) are aware. That's all it takes.

PS: I'll talk to Mike but we might want to borrow that carbon...
