Interesting article. That sucks that they are basically goin to eradicate all the organisms... How do people think this world was populated? It's likely a few people stating that it could affect their way of life so destroy it! Some people are just ignorant.

really? I can see the reasoning behind trying to preserve the native fauna versus risking having foreign organisms take over.
Invasive species really do have the potential to wipe out the local stuff. It would be sad to lose that diversity.

both valid points, If they could use them as far as research or maybe put them in a aquarium exhibit that would be cool. I agree that the animals may be to invasive. In most of the cases invasive species cause more problems than good. I can only think of one positive at the moment and that was chameleons being introduced to the Florida keys. They have caused few problems and are eating a lot of the pest insects.

I believe that the species are where they are because nature wound up placing them there. Now, an argument could be made that the likelihood of those critter ever getting to the western seaboard was unnaturally and unintentionally aided by humans. I do not feel as though it's a cause for alarm. The world has been floating around for a great long time and seems to take care of itself way better than humans have. I'm just tired of reading articles written by people who claim to be green only to facilitate their own comfort and way of life. I honestly don't believe humans are more or less important than any other creature on this planet. Sorry. I'm not trying to write a dissertation on this and really enjoy the conversation. I hope no one takes what my comments are saying too harshly. They were not written to be derogatory in any manner.
