I don't think it will harm the fish. Try to vacuum all the gravel. Also rinse out the filter pad.

Is the back of the aquarium painted? If not, could the sunlight be creating an algae bloom?

Update. I did 50% water change yesterday. Cleaned gravel in the process.
Tank cleared up with a 50% improvement. Will do another change tomorrow.

Sunlight that close to a tank could still cause it though? My parents had a tank that had crazy algae problems and it was right about where your tank was in relation to the window. Good luck though, glad it's clearing up!

If its freshwater Try some new carbon. they sell these little cartridges where you can ran an airline to with carbon in the chamber. really cheap too.
