I have own glass for most of my life, I actually like it better. Except when it comes to moving them. Acrylic tanks can still be heavy, but they are considerable lighter than glass. I just got me a 140G tank for my first reef tank. I would of preferred acrylic this time only because I have a 2 yr old that likes to hit everything as hard as he can with his toys. Sadly I was ms-informed on the CL ad about the tank, I was told the it was acrylic, which is what I wanted, but turned out to be glass. But for $50 I could not pass on the deal. But a short pros and cons list IMO.

Glass to me is much more clearer, and does not tend to scratch easily, it does get scratched, but no where near what it would be with acrylic. Easier to clean, again mainly because of scratches. Glass is considerable heavier. Glass is also easier to break, something flying in the air, Live Rocks losing balance and crashing into your glass, where as with acrylic it may or may not crack. Hit hard enough I think they break as well, but it would be more force to do that then with glass. Acrylic offers different shapes, instead of being the traditional 4 sides and 4 right angles. Acrylic can also be easier-ed drilled, but are very prone to heat. Glass to can be drilled, but you have to be careful, and if it is tempered glass, might as well give up on the idea of drilling through it for your bulk heads or any other idea.
