    Default powder brown got ich

powder brown got ich from the 75 reef. So I have to put him in my 75 future reef sump with copper and try to rid him of it. Treat for 2 months?

None of the other fish in the 75 reef seem to be showing ich signs.

I will be using SeaChem Cupramine. Any experience you can share is helpful. 1st for me trying this treatment.

    Thanks

I don't have any experience with that medication but I helped my neighbor to medicate against icy with Polyp Lab's Medic and it worked.

Thats tooo nice. Inverts can be carriers of ich and dies with copper treatments and so do coral. Interesting how its safe for coral and inverts.
But I have allready started this copper treatment. The bottle said use 16 drops per 10 gallons. I have put in 40 drops so far in ro/di water allmost 60 gallons so far.
I will test for copper levels tomorrow.

my question is I want to use this sump for my future 125reef. Is it easy to rid the sump of the copper?

Im gonna try to save this little guy.

Most of the reading I have done says that they have debunked the myth that once a tank has had copper you can't use it for a reef so it should be fine as a sump later on.

The 75 that the tang was in is now infected and if you have other fish in there they will contract ich as well. While you may not see the signs of ich on those fish it is most likely that they are strong enough that you simply do not see the symptoms and not that they are immune or ich is not present. Removeal of ich from an living tank is a PITA as it needs to sit fallow for quite some time (8+ weeks as I recall). But if you dont take the time and do that when/if you put the tang back they are just going to pick it up again.

I also don't recall inverts being a carrier as the parisite needs the fish to survive, I guess there is a possibility for the water to have some ich if you move the inverts from tank to another.

Thanks thats good to know. I will put all fish from the 75 reef to the 75 sump quarantine for 2 months. By moving the fish theres no host and the ich should die off.
After the 2 months, The quarantined fish will be moved to the 125 REEF that I will begin to build without sand. Sand is a place they multiply.
From what I read Inverts have the same cell structure as ich as such they both die with copper treatments. Ich could hitchhike on Inverts. Water for sure Ich can travel.

ugh I have to wait until July 4th to move fish out of quarantine to 125RR.
Im lucky I have several tanks to play with. I see how important it is to have a coppered fish. 1 fish can take your system down. for sure

I have no clue where the ich came from. none. zero.

I would imagine that everyone has ich. It's about as prevalent as taxes.

Some fish are more susceptible to it than others, tangs being one of them.

The key to success is to keep your fish happy and fed well. This reduces stress and makes for a stronger immune system.

If your fish is currently sick yet has an appetite, let it ride until the symptoms are gone. Then, if you truly wish to kill off the ich cycle go ahead as planned. It takes time, but there are some benefits as well... No more ich. Of course you will have to put every single new addition through the same measures to prevent reinfecting your tank.

I would never suggest attempting to isolate a suffering fish for treatment. They don't know what's going on, only that a blue net has been chasing them all over, then suddenly they are in 'outer space' and now in a new environment.

    Talk about stress.
