    Default My Clams

Just wanted to add my new addition. I've had the Crocea Clam for a while but I just added the Derasa Clam today.

For larger ones like these, all you need is adequate lighting, stable water parameters, and suitable tankmates (no nippers). A lot of the 2-3 inch and smaller ones need to be supplemented with filter feeder foods.

I purchased the Crocea Clam at Alamo aquatics a while back. He was under priced so I jumped on it and he's grown about an inch since I got him. The Derasa Clam was purchased at Elegant Reef. Louis has some very good deals on clams and a nice selection. The thing I like about Elegant Reef is that he prices his clams by species and not by size. His prices are very competetive. I've had great luck with the livestock I've purchased there. I'm using a 6 bulb ATI T5 sunpower light fixture.

good to know. And you are running the T5s with a depth of at least 2ft with that 90. sounds good.

Are you hand feeding or just the T5s?

Phytoplankton is probably the best. I've used h20 life frozen coral food. Usually 2 times a week works. You can target feed or just shut off your pumps and feed the whole tank at once.

John, how long have you had the crocea? How big was it when you got it?
