    Default What's your parameters?

So I wanted to get some ideas as to where others are keeping there cal, alk, and mag levels at. Also what type of corals do you have in your tank? Soft, hard or mixed? I'm currently have a 90 gallon reef tank with a 30 gallon refugium. I have mostly soft corals but do have 5 SPS frags, 4 monti cap frags and 2 types of trumpet corals and a hammer coral. My cal is at 420ppm, alk is at 7dkh and mag is at 1040ppm.

The only thing I see is that your mag is low. Mag should be 3x your ca level. Dkh is fine, ca is fine. My tanks normally are in these ranges:

    Ca 420-480
    Mg 1350-1600
    alk 170 (hanna checker)

I don't dose, other than kalkwasser in my topoff, and routine water changes to keep mg levels up. My tanks are almost all mixed to some extent, with the exception of the predator tank, which is all softies/leathers. All other tanks have a mix of softies/leathers/lps/sps.

Well, I have been working on two tanks (different locations) with those three levels.

    CA - 350
    mg - 950
    alk -120

    Caused major dino outbreak.

now Ca - 460, mg 1100, alk 170 and the dino is going away

    Goal for the levels is
    ca - 450-500
    mg 1300-1400
    alk 170-190

Having those at the right levels make all the difference in the world!
