When you blast stuff off of your rocks, scrape the glass, stir the sand bed, etc, how much of that stuff that is put into suspension in the water is food for the corals, and how much is poison to the inhabitants of the tank?

A lot of the detritus is food, but too much of anything can be bad. Coral seem to be pretty good at closing up of sliming over if they don't like something so I pay no heed when cleaning. Better them to be upset for an evening than a dirty tank IMO

I notice a mild to moderate out break of ich whenever I blast the rocks.
I've always assumed that it's because I stir up the stuff that gives ich.
