I'm not going to really disagree with Louis. However, please consider this:

    1) If you buy/trade/get a clone, that's one more wild one still in the wild.

    2) A clone (like mine) that have been around for years are hard to beat. Mine can take a lot of abuse. Heck, even now I can't get them to split by doing an 80% water change - that used to work every time.

That above post was from Dan.

As far as clones, they're great when they're available. I know of a place that has a flame clone from a local hobbyist that looks great. The wild anemones in the same tank look just as great.

Bottom line is that picking a healthy anemone that you're attracted to is very easy to do. Look for a specimen that is fully inflated and has strong coloration. An anemone that is showing a willingness to feed is also important. A good LFS will gladly feed an anemone for you. As long as the anemone fits within these guidelines AND your tank and husbandry are up to par you should be fine.

Best of luck in your anemone hunt!

    I have three.
    RBTA(Sm) LFS
    Green Long (Lg) LFS
    RBTA (Lg) MAAST

All three are healthy, and accept food once a week. Just keep in mind that if we don't support our LFS now, they won't be there when we need them later.
