Not to mention that it's a great feeling to support local small businesses.

Truth in lending though, the organizer of a group buy does get the equivalent of $20 store credit for organizing the event. But it could be argued that the headache and time spent trying to marshal up the troops to participate, may be easier to pick it up local.
