Default How nice it would be to just add a few drops and wait!

I've been really stressed out lately. As you know I have 3 horses that are very dear to me.
My gelding (my very first horse and also the one I competed on before I had kids) got tangled in some downed electric tape fence and cut his hindleg pretty badly.
At first it seemed okay but then it started to get worse. We had to haul him to the vet clinic this weekend because he was developing proud flesh.
The treatment for that is a powder that dissolves the unwanted flesh. Yes -liquifies my horse!
So when it's time to change the bandage it's full of grey goop that used to be part of my horse's leg.
I can't wait for this to be over. He's on antibiotics so hopefully it won't get any worse. It's close to his joint so infection would be very very bad.
Makes you realize how easy and less gross the care of stick fish is: just add a few drops to the water and hope for the best...

Can't even imagine having a sick horse. I felt so helpless when Ziggy got sick. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

Hey Karin, was this related to your FB post about your horse hurting his leg and that you needed to wait till the morning to see how it was doing?

Either way, I know how much you love your equine babies. Hope it all turns out well.

Yes. Thanks. It's going on 3 weeks now. The grossest part right now is how the proud flesh needs to be dissolved.
You change the bandage and it's full with hair, dissolved flesh and blood. My poor sweet boy.

And he's getting a little sick of me messing with it every day I think. He's walking and eating though and hopefully in another month it will all be in the past...

He looks like he is doing really good though. He is so lucky to have someone like you who cares so much.
