Don't reuse them unless you want to do it again. I have put on plenty of metal roofs in my time as a contractor, and the washers will eventually leak if reused. You are right, silly.....

I took the truck out for a test run this evening. No vibration, no noise, no slop in the driveline during shifting. It appears that particular problem is fixed. Of course, I still have a cracked exhaust manifold, and I really need to do a full set of ball joints on it. It's never ending around here.......my work truck needs u-joints, my minivan has what I think is a ball joint pop, and my one ton van randomly refuses to start. Oh yea, the a/c quit working in the work truck, and doesn't work in the four wheel drive.

I am no longer amused with this situation.
