    Default Aquariums for Environmental Research

I am working on my dissertation but have not been able to procure funding yet. As a result, I am taking a different approach to equipment. I am looking for aquariums of all sizes to house various strains of algae, invertebrates and vertebrates for toxicity research and carbon dioxide trapping. I am looking for aquariums that hold water (or can be easily fixed). Size is not a huge issue but I dont really need anything of the 75+ gallon variety. So 5+ is good. I dont have a lot of money so I am looking for tanks people are looking to get rid of or sell cheaply. Please let me know what you have and what you are looking to get. I can also use any old pumps, power filters or various and sundry supplies. Thanks

Thanks! I appreciate it. Unattractive is not an issue.

Try calling Dave at Dave's Rare Fish. He often has some old tanks cheap. Also, talk to LFS. When they have broken tanks they throw them out. A cracked tank can usually be made useable with a simple overlay of glass plus silicone. Might also look at alternatives other than glass/acrylic. Plastic tubs should work fine. Another thought is that a 55, for instance, can be sectioned off into several tanks with cheap glass (be sure you seal them well and fill them equally so it doesn't blow out).

    Bump.
Want to thank Ace for his generosity and helping me out big time. I am still in need of more tanks that are unwanted or can be sold very cheaply. Cracks are no problem
