sounds nice but probably depends on the actual dimensions. What are they?

go aggressive reef, stock it with corals, and with fish that won't eat them, and that are not normally seen, like a frogfish, a lionfish, a grouper, a marine betta, a big wrasse or an eel. ridiculous coral and a few gorgeous fish will always do it for me, plus it makes it easy to differentiate between feeding your fish and feeding your corals.

The challenging thing about a hex tank is the height. The footprint doesn't give you as much surface area as similar volumes of water, so you have to make sure you oxygenate the water. We do it by having a power head pointing up toward the surface of the water. Then we have a spray bar (from our canister filter) that runs down the height of the tank to give added gentle flow and that seems to work for us on our 20g hex.
Profntbtr's suggestions are good in that you want to stay away from fish that do a lot of fast swimming. That shape is not good for tangs, for example who want to tear from one end to the other of a tank. But it would be great for a lionfish or frogfish or hawk or pufferfish or clowns, cardinals, blennies, dottybacks if you want a more community reef tank.
