So you mentioned you have them in a tumbler. How long do you let the eggs stay in the fathers mouth before you strip them? Yu want to make sure there is enough time for the eggs to fertilize.

Also can you please take a pic of your tumbler and tell me how much flow you have running through it? If its too slow you will get stagnant water and the quality will drop and the eggs can die. If its too fast them tumbling motion can damage/kill the eggs.

Also are you putting the tumblers in a different tank from where the parents live? If so the difference in water quality might be the culprit. The tumblers I use allow you to keep them in the same tank they came from.

I used to breed African Cichlids (Mbuna) and had 3 tumblers that I made. If you want I can make you some that will work and be very safe for the eggs development cycle. Just pay for the materials. Materials are VERY cheap. With the tumblers I made I my success rate was about 95% to 100% every time. Check out my youtube videos in the link below and you can see the tumblers and see a video of the fry.

Just noticed you live in NY?? If thats the case and you want the tumblers you will have to pay for the shipping lol. OR I can send you a detailed email on how to make them. LMK
