Default yellow tang has a little white fuzz on tail arear

recently i added a sump holding about 50 gallons of water. i dont know if adding all that water had something to do with my problem but yesterday my yellow tang was not coming out for anything and now i see white fuzz near tail area. i'm filling up my quarantine tank and try to treat it. i'm not sure yet what it is but i'm looking it up now. any suggestions would help.

maybe he injured his tail and its a bacterial infection? Post some pics if possible. Easier to diagnose

i'll try to get a pic up.. i tested the water since i did add a lot of water to sump. my ph was awfully low at about 7.8 - 8.0. i have some seachem marine buffer and gave a little dose. now its at about 8.0 -8.2. i'm going to wait a few hours and test again. i'm hoping my problem with my tang has to do with the ph. it looks a little like road rash around his head and nose area with a little browning where his skin was. i'm thinking it is a ph burn but my other fish seem fine.

really never a good idea to mess with ph rapidly, and this may have been something slowly happening that you didn't see till now. it may be something that sloths off in a day or two. until you know exactly what your treating I wouldn't stress fish anymore.

i'll wait two days and see if any other signs appear on the tang and for sure other fish.
i just don't see how my tang could have came down with a fungus or infection. i haven't added any fish to my tank. my tang has been in the tank for a while now and has never showed signs of anything wrong until yesterday when he wouldn't come out from the rocks.
