Biopellet rectors and cyano
I started running a biopellet reactor about 6 weeks ago and getting a cyano outbreak. Has anyone had experience with this?

yup it seems to cycle in after they kick in, i use coral snow to help get rid of it. it will come and go, especially if you dont watch how fast they dissolve. if they dont tumble correctly, from plate clogging, or pump clogging also. ive been running them for about a year, i still love how simple they are.

So what is the recommended tumble rate? I have read that if they tumble too fast there is excess carbon sluff off the biopellets that feeds the cyano if the skimmer cant pick it up... Is it like a regular cycle that will eventually go away (all other things considered) or will I always have cyano outbreaks? My water quality is good and the only thing I can see causing the cyano outbreak is the biopellet reactor. I am running a GFO reactor, only use RODI (TDS 2 or less), nitrates around 10-15, phosphates have been 0 (even prior to the outbreak)...

my tank is the exactly the same, gfo, carbon. I still have cheato, and still get cyano every once in a while. yes it will just cycle through, like I said I use coral snow to help speed up and get rid of it. elegant reef has some coral snow in stock.
