WTB/Adopt 2 aged adult male rats
I adopted a rat a while ago off of a girl who didn't know what she was doing and got tired of him. His name's Remy, and he's a ton of fun! My work involves rats, and so before Remy I'd kept work and home separate. Now that I have him at home, though, all of my decisions with him are informed by the epic amounts of information I've learned about rats at work. One of these facts has to do with companionship! Remy, being an older male who was group housed until he was 1 year old, most likely misses his companions and would benefit from a couple of friends. However, I do not want bazillions of rat babies or territorial rats. So, I'm looking for a pair of male rats (preferably ones who already know each other) to quarantine and then gradually introduce to Remy. Why older? Well, I hadn't planned on taking in rats in the first place, and the truth is you just get to feeling so bad for them if they're companionless that you get them more friends. I know several people who have begun the vicious cycle of rat caretaking in this way. So, I want a pair of older dudes who can keep him company and hopefully expect lifespans similar to his. If you know any rats that fit the bill, please let me know!

I always love to hear people choose rats as pets. They are so lovely!
Hope you find some! Just keep in mind that the rats don't have very long life span so if Remy is already around 2 he may not have that many years left. :(
Merry x-mas from this rathouse to yours!

I know :( rat lifespans are very unfortunate. I want him to have some buddies during his golden years. I do keep him on a caloric restriction diet to lengthen his lifespan, but I think that's only been demonstrated to add about 130 days-ish. Sadness!
