    Default Impellers

    They are awesome. lol
I've been actively in denial about my skimmer on the big reef for awhile. You know I have a lot of filter feeders, oysters, etc. So it totally could be that my natural filtration is just super efficient. Skimmate production has gone way down.

Or of course it could just be that there's been one too many tiny snails in the impeller...

I've been trying to avoid that possibility because -yikes- impellers are pricey. Believing in the natural filtration power is way cheaper!

But you can only lie to yourself so long so I bought a new impeller. And it works! Should have probably got one earlier.

So if nothing is in your skimmer cup, you may want to consider some maintenance. Chances are you may have forgotten to feed your fish or your impeller is shot.
