I need help in math!

I have the following problem and know what comes next, but cannot figure out the "rule" for it.

The following is all in the radican (under a square root sign)

2-(1/x-1)



That's two minus 1 over x minus 1


The next step is (all in the radican)

2(x-1)-1
--------------
x-1

How the flip does it get up there? What is the step I'm missing in between?

the problem was multiplied by the denominator x-1 which is why the numerator has a -1 because the factor x-1 cancels out and that left 2(x-1)-1 . If you send me the full problem i can help.

In other words:

Start with 2/1-1/(x-1)
Times each by (x-1)/1 to get a common denominator of 1
And that leaves you with 2(x-1) - 1
