    Default AT&T GoPhone Plans

I am currently with Sprint and am hardly using my phone at all. Seems like a waste to pay so much money for gazillions of minutes when I hardly make calls on my cell and when I text something it's an extra charge.
So I am interested in a smaller plan and Sprint doesn't offer smallish plans for non seniors (still got a few years to go for that).
I checked out AT&T and they have a $25 per month plan under their prepaid GoPhone deal.

Has anybody used that? Does that work well?

I got rid of my home phone and got a cheapy AT&T Go Phone at Wal-Mart to have at the house in case of emergency as I have a company cell phone. I refill it with a $25 card that has a 90 day expiration period if you don't use it up by then. If you refill with less than that it's only good for 30 days. There are 2 different plans and other options for texting, etc that cost a little more. If you don't use it much, then it's an good deal. If you plan to use the phone often, then it will probably end up costing as much as a regular cell plan.

It really depends on your usage, I had a go phone about 8 years ago and moved to Sprint less than a year later b/c I was spending 2-3x more buying more minutes, still have the number actually. I like Sprint, but I'm also on a special plan I weaseled my way into before they discontinued it. However, Sprint's WiMax 4g is pale in comparison to Verizon's LTE network, but I can live with that for the price I pay.

On my busiest month I use maybe 100 minutes. That's it. I checked Cricket but that's $40 in my area.

With the AT&T pay as you go, the charges mostly depend on how many days you call. With the plan I use, it's $3/day that a call is made and then unlimited minutes that day. You don't pay anything on days the phone isn't used. So if you made a call every day of the month, that's $90 so not a very good deal. If you only get/make calls a couple days out of the month, then it might be ok. Some of those pay as you go plans are screwy to figure out.

they have a $25 plan that allows unlimited text and 250 minutes
They also have a plan that costs $2 every day you use it and for that day you can use it as much as you want to.
I think I am leaning towards the $25 per month plan. If I run out of minutes I can always start texting

They must have changed it up some since I started mine. For mine I only get either the $1/day to other AT&T accounts or the $3/day unlimited plan then the texting cost like $20 for unlimited texting. I'll have to pay more attention next time I add money to the account. I'm not a texter so the basics work for me. If that plan is for real for the $25 it sounds pretty good. Think Wal-Mart has their own plan (through Tmobile?)for like $45 with everything. But that is probably not including all the fees the phone companies add on.
