Allan, I also have a Ruger for deer in 300 winmag (don't ask...).

For birds/skeet, I have a 20ga Browning Citori Hunting model (over/under) - it has a straight stock (no pistol grip), which I just LOVE. I shot my brother-in-law's at the range, and Mamma bought me one for an anniversary present. They are not inexpensive, but not totally off the wall. My brother-in-law collects shotguns, and his is the least expensive he owns.

3 & 5 shot model pumps/autos (3 for doves) are just a waste of ammo. If you don't hit them with the 1st two, what makes you think the 3rd would take them down? As well, you then have to go find your hulls, possibly losing a bird.

That being said, a 20ga at the skeet range is undergunned - and you won't do as well as the 12ga guys. The 12ga version does weigh a bit more.
