ok ray for what you want to do its going to take more than one gun, for bird and skeet a shotgun will be needed. shotguns IMO are great home defense guns for someone who doesnt shoot alot, easy to aim and effective. for deer and javelina you will need some sort of bolt action gun, .243, .270, 30-06 are great guns with .243 being on the smaller end of the scale. i have a 30-06 i need to knock the cob webs off for deer season, if you want to go to the gun range with me your more than welcome to let me know.
