Gorgos out of water

I am dedicating to cleaning and rearranging the Caribbean Reef tank.
A couple of my gorgonians have grown tall enough to reach the top of the water surface.
I've seens some pics with stony corals where the stonys are exposed to air.
Is it the same with gorgonians?
Or should I find new lower spots for them?

I think they will do the same. Isn't there an issue with gorgos getting air bubbles trapped in their tissue when they are exposed to air though?

You would probably see tissue recession on the side not exposed to light... leaving it more vulnerable to algae growth.

Looks like the basket star has attached itself to the gorgo I wanted to move today so I'll have to skip a couple of days of feeding her and wait till she moves off anyway.

I don't remember. Not as long as the tiny searod baskets. I also still have the tiny searod baskets that came with the orange tree gorgonian.
All of them responded very well to my frozen food.

Thanks. It can be a bit of a pain to get up early enough before the lights come on to feed her (active at night) but I do enjoy her.

well in case anybody was waiting for the answer to this one:


the gorgo tips that grow out of the water die off (see pics). So I moved it down a bit to give it more room to grow. We'll see how the basket adjusts to this. She may move to another gorgo if she doesn't like it so low (now closer to the Vortech which may be too much flow for the basket star)
