Thread: Aiptasia Control!!!

  1. #1

    Default Aiptasia Control!!!

Tried Aiptasia Control-X & Peppermint shrimp with poor results.....Getting desperate, have a new batch of aiptasis growing, breaking down and thinking of a copperband butterfly fish, cant get the nudibranchs, have a wrasse and arrow crab, so it would be a waist of money......Would like input from forum members...

Also, going to S.A. this wekend, would like to pick it up if anyone has one, can do trade or cash...

I know that Louis from Elegant Reef has a proven copperband butterfly for sale. He's around six years old and from another aquarist's tank. He looked real good, so much that I was tempted to get him, but can't take the risk he wont eat my small zoas. Good luck.

If you have clams then don't even think about it - IMO. Everything else would probably be cool, you could always let him mack down on the aptasia, then catch and re-home. But the clams...

Store is off Nakoma close to West Ave. just off 281. Check sponsor forum area for exact address - it's attached to Line-X.

Got rid of most of mine with a pen style blowtorch and my diy aptasia gun.

Just spoke with Louis of Elegant Reef, doesnt really recommend due to my clams, apprently the one he had started nipping at his clams...Have enclosed pics of my tank, its a 90 gallon Oceanic with 50+ of lie rock, its over three years old and very well established.....Need to get control before apitasia take control...Have German Blue Polyp Ora for trade if anyone's interested???Coral 001.jpgCoral 006.jpgCoral 002.jpgCoral 005.jpg

It was, not anymore - though I'm not sure why (if it started nipping or what) I know I wouldn't trust it if I had clams, but you could be totally fine. I'm sure Louis could give anyone the heads up on how the fish reacted in that tank.
