Updates - Lighting a fish store
This week I received the lighting for the saltwater side of the shop (Yes there is a freshwater side also!)
I love playing with new lights!
Because conservation is really important to us, we decided early on that being Green was the only option that was good enough. We chose to partner up with Ecoxotic, a California based company who specializes in LED aquarium lighting. These lights are energy efficient, run cool, and look amazing!
Our 8 foot long saltwater fish aquariums use only 4x 12" Stunner fixtures each, totaling about 24 watts of energy per tank. The light is a crisp white with an amazing shimmer!
The 4 foot by 8 foot coral garden needed the best quality of lighting available so we chose to use the panorama fixture. We wanted to ensure that our corals not only looked fantastic but actually thrived too. Each panorama fixture runs on 13 watts of electricity, our 4x8 tank uses a tiny 260 watts and can house the most light loving stony corals available in the hobby.
I really wanted to showcase the clam refugium. The 100 watt canon led pendant does just that. This thing is BRIGHT! I caught a very quick very small glimpse out of the corner of my eye and saw spots for at least 15 minutes! The canon has an available dimmable feature which is great for acclimating new specimens to the system.
The LEDs should be installed and wired up by this weekend so expect some new exciting photos in the next few days.
