    Default Nitrate problem

    I moved almost 2 weeks ago and almost all my coral except my brain and I don't know if my zoas are even still alive they haven't been out since I moved. My nitrites are 0 but nitrates are 40 I cant get them to drop can any one help my urchant just died and star fish. So I basically have to start over the wife is not happy any help would be nice
    46 freshwater for wife
    75 Reef tank
    1 20g and 2 40g clowns and yellow headed jaw fish and 1 10g breeding set up
    Need starter phyto and rotifer cultures let me know if you got them.

    You may be running an inefficient skimmer for your bioload. Tell us more about your tank.

    W/ zero nitrite and 40 nitrate your nitrogen cycle is working and you shouldn't have any ammonia.... at least not anymore. Let's see some pics of your filtration (sump, skimmer) to get a better idea of what we can do to fix it.

    Ur tank maybe still settling from the move..I would suggest large water change and depending upon ur live stock dnt feed ur tank for few days..
    If possible even move ur fishes in hospital tank..

    Moving the fish can stress them more. 40 nitrates isn't ideal but it's not deadly either; I wouldn't move the fish, just try to lower the nitrates.

    Like the others said, reduce excess nutrients going in and pull out the excess nutrients already in there. Reduce feeding, increase skimming, and small frequent water changes.
