Default Well Water for my tank ??????

Hello to everyone in the forums !

This is my 1st post here at maast and I am also new to the hobbie and I need to ask what may seem to be a dumm question .

I live out in the country and have no city water supply here .
I am starting a 46g reef tank this weekend and my question is this , can I use water from my water well to fill the tank with ?
The water is clear and taste fine and has no bad oder to it .

Figured I would ask before I did something wrong

    Thanks for the Help !

As long as it is filtered through a RO/DI unit, you should be good.

www.buckeyefieldsupply.com has been a long time sponsor here on MAAST, most of us use the units from there.

Hey softail, glad you asked! No such thing as a dumb question... I guarantee we already asked all of them!

When my husband and I were new to the hobby, we used water from those Windmills that sell bottled water. Do you guys have those in Del Rio? We had the water tested and found that it was acceptable and did not have overly high phosphates or any of the other undesirable materials. Depending on the elements that are in your water, it could lead to some battles with nuisance algae or even stress out your fish and compromise their health.

If you can't find one of those, send a PM to Bobby (his user name is "delrio") and ask him where he gets his water. He should be able to steer you in the right direction and would be a good person for you to know as you get going.

    Welcome to MAAST!

Probably better to filter it or buy from water machine. The water may be ok to drink but without testing it, I'm not sure it would be good for your tank.
