Thats terrible! I hope this is just an isolated incident.
u know this coral reef industry is getting so big and popular among the hobbyist that no wonder the government has to limit or ban coral reef farming and it worth good chunk of money that even the thieves and criminals got their eyes on em...not even a week ago i read an article on reef centeral this dude walk into the store and stole few grand worth corals.......horrible

In the last 5-10 years there has been a paradigm shift with the approach to this hobby. Some hobbiest see it solely as a profitable venture, rather than for the advancement of aquatic knowledge.
I am glad, that the reporter mentioned that the corals were "raised in a synthetic environment" Its important to make the distinction.
I'm not sure of all the details, but the same thing happened at Austin Aqua Farms in Taylor, Texas recently.
