Appliance Repair Recommendations

I guess I have to tear it apart, i believe it to be a bearing that has gone bad. But bill saying that it maybe a coupler makes me want to look.

I have an older Sears washer in the garage you could have. Its older like me but was working, bought a new set last Nov. and I was going to give my old set to a woman with 3 kids husband left her, the day she was to pick it up he came back now I can't find anyone who wants them.
I would really like to give them to someone in need.
