Starting a new tank
I have a quick question about starting a new tank.
First, when going the dry rock method, how much rock do you use to seed the tank?
I will be going with 40lb of dry rock, how much live rock would I need to seed this?
Another question is about coralline, how do I seed it into the dead rock? Most of the LR I purchase usually has some small specs of it growing on it.
Do the methods differ if I choose to go either DSB or Bare bottom?

Dude, I believe your cycle will be proportionate to the amount of live rock you put in vice the dry rock.
Since "live sand" from the bag isn't really live... I would imagine that this wouldn't be a factor except that your bio filtration will come solely from your rock.
Short answer, a small piece will get you going albeit a lot slower than were you to use a significant amount.
I've heard of folks gathering Coraline chips from other members, I'm constantly scraping it off of my glass. You can have some of it if you want although I would suggest that this is not necessary.

Oh ok, that makes sense.
I might take you up on that coralline the next time I'm in San Antonio, thanks for the answer.
