Karin, have you seen the RC thread that used a phosphate meter to test the longevity of GFO? The phosphates began dropping instantly. He tested every hour and saw a significant decreas. The reduction tapered off until it stopped reducing any measurable phosphates around day 2. I believe he did the experiment a couple times. It's been hypothesized that carbon has the same life expectancy.
I'm looking for the thread, but looks like it will be hard to find.
