My guess is that LFS's try to avoid the cost of maintaining their RODI systems - we hear so many compliants re DI water quality at LFS...

Leave nothing out...test for dKH, cal, Mag, pH, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, phos, potassium, iron, silica and so forth. Write down the results you get for both. Now what you want to do is factor in what it is going to cost, along with the time and effort, to replace specific levels to get either sample of water to the point where you want it when it comes to SW let alone a reef environment. Aquifer water will win every time.
Well now we are getting into a different story I was going off your first saying that its great right from the tap.

Not exactly sure why the popularity with buying RO water from a LFS...or the investment with high dollar RO units here. I go to probably the same unnamed LFS and they have 5g containers piled up selling it like hotcakes.

Thanks Allan. We meet at your house one day a year or two ago and you hooked me up with some cheto. For some reason it didn't take to my tank but I got some more from a local guy in Abilene at that time.
