lol...another good one . First it was "Selling it All", now this.
Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

    A scratchy old tank?

Thanks Clint, and, um, you should know you're now on the short list. I'm sure they'll be contacting you. ;)

Might have to pony up the 25 bones and become a Charger again though.

LMK when you're ready to upgrade to that external overflow, I know where you can dump your old tank.

    Congrats Todd,

I think this contest is unfair... His tank should be tested for steroids I saw this tank in person and it is amazing. I've never seen SPS colors, and growth like that.

    Great job Todd

Thanks Troy. The light is already working well.

Forgot about the "how to see if corals are doing well". Too much algae, anemone's look less than prime, sps color and polyp extension. Top down is usually Alk, bottom up is usually phosphates/too much nutrients.

There's a ton of ways to run a tank "well". Unless you're keeping things like sea fans and sponges that aren't photo synthetic, I think the easiest way to keep things healthy is a very powerful skimmer run "wet". But this is just what I've found easiest for me. Heck, Tyree doesn't use skimmers on his systems.

The reason I don't do many water changes now, is I'm removing 3 gallons or so of super concentrated (compared to plain tank water) nasty water a week, spotty = bad critters. So, it's more stable than doing a big water change all at once while still pulling lots of poo. I just do a small water change to get any detritus out and the minerals are getting replace when I add salt to keep the salinity up.

There's also much better tanks within MAAST that hopefully will be shown in some future TOTM columns.
