    Quick update. I got the rock rubble and DSB put in the back. The sand bed is 3.5" deep.

    looking good Stephen. Thanks for posting all of the pics, very curious to see how the flow runs through the back. Did you end up cutting some off the top of the second baffle? If so...how much, kind of looks to be about 3/4's of an inch judging by the white...but perhaps that's just a glare or something..?

    would it be possible to make that sandbed a tad higher?

    I'm not sure how much I cut off the baffle to correct the water level, I will have to measure it for you. Yes, the sand bed can go higher. I will probably add another 1/2-1" of sand to it. The baffle on this prototype is only 5" so I don't want to go above a 4.5" sandbed.

    Bad angle on the pic, but this is my bonsai inspired rock. I used 6 pieces of dry rock and marco 400 mortar to hold it all together. I will add more pics when I have some better lighting.
