    Default Remove superglue from plastic?

I had a frag glued with a little plastic coated magnet. I've no longer got the frag on a magnet, but the glue is still there. I'd like to have the magnet back to normal but don't want to damage it.

Prying it off hasn't worked and I'm afraid I'll hurt myself. Soapy water hasn't worked either.

I wanted to try acetone based nail polish remover next, but I know acetone has the potential to damage plastic.

Any experience with acetone, or any other ideas?

I'd scrape it off with a razor blade. Or have Stephen scrape it off if you are afraid you'll hurt yourself?

    I'll ask him

When I tried with a blade it rolled across the room, or I'd be afraid I'd puncture the plastic coating. It's a tiny magnet.

If acetone will discolor the plastic, I don't care about that. If the acetone does damage though, like erosion, I don't want to risk it.

    It's this magnet:

1/2" diameter, 1/4" thick. It costs 95 cents... so I'm not heartbroken if it doesn't work out. But hey, a buck is a buck. Waste not, want not.

    For future reference...

acetone didn't work. I tried it on another magnet and the acetone nail polish remover did not damage the magnet, but it didn't remove the superglue either.

The nail polish remover did remove the super glue from my tile, however. As well as the sock fuzz from where I stepped in the super glue. The sock is a lost cause.

    The real question is:

how do you get super glue off:
    a) your teeth (without waiting a few days)
    and
    b) your hair (without getting bangs)

I don't know about the hair, but I got superglue off of my teeth and the roof of my mouth and tongue by eating a pound of beef jerky.

It's an ugly minute though when your mouth is sealed shut.

I ended up getting layers No bangs thankfully, but I now put my hair up before gluing stuff.
