Post some identifiers on the flyer and before you reveal your location to the caller ask them to describe some details that an owner would know like a scar or eye color or they can meet you some where and show you a picture of them with the dog. Maybe take it to a vet and see if its chipped. I used to think that if the owner was irresponsable enough to let the dog get out then they didnt need to own them but recently it happened to me. I own 4 dogs who are all inside dogs and dont go outside in the backyard for long periods of time unless I am out there with them. My backyard is fully fenced and pretty secure but recently my dogs dug a hole after it rained really fast and got out. (dug in a matter of 10 minutes) They got out into my neighbors yard and they called me and their adventure only lasted about 10 minutes but if they had gotten out front who knows what might have happened. My point is you never know if it was dumped or lost. Someone might be looking for it and if it were me I would post some flyers in the area. Don't include a picture just be basic with it and if the real owers calim it then they should be able to accurately describe it.

Good luck to you man! Its good to know it found you to give it a warm safe place until it goes home or to a new home.
