Looking for a Limpet!
Anybody got one or two keyhole limpets they are willing to part with?
I got some hydroids in my seahorse tank and need some limpets to gobble them up...

hydroids are like little tiny jellyfish although some swim around and others are attached to the walls, etc. It can also change by what life stage they are in.
They are bad to have in seahorse tanks because they can sting the seahorses.
I want them gone!
My seahorses are big so they are not an immediate thread to them like they would be to seahorse fry or dwarf seahorses but clearly I don't want my darlings to have to endure this even if it's not life threatening.
Always something...

I have a bunch of limpets...not sure of the species though. Are you looking specifically for keyholes? If not, you are welcome to some of mine. They are not too big, with the largest a little over a quarter of an inch.

Thanks Lindsey!
From what I read it really does have to be a keyhole limpet (really has a little hole in the shell to ID) because an algae eating limpet wouldn't eat my hydroids. :(

I can't imagine a single limpet doing much damage. They're so slow, and possibly confused.
I have a keyhole in my fuge. I don't know where he came from, but I can always find him. For the last few months, he has been in the same 3 square inch area. That spot is super clean.
I enjoy his presence, but if I can figure out how to get him off the glass I'd donate him to the hydroid cause. He has a death-grip suction, though, so I'm not sure how to go about removing him from the back glass. Any ideas?

I think they are similar to chitons in that they have a home spot. I guess yours is 'at home' lol
I am going to inquire with Reefcleaners to see what kind of limpets they have...

I had no idea these guys could take out hydroids. Like tebstan, I would think these guys are way to slow, and small....but if they work - Cool.

John doesn't have the keyhole kind. Guess I'll be my own predator with this...
