You have to watch what you are "killing". It is handy for killing games but on board apps like navigation, messaging, are just like Ace said... they restart anyways, so save yourself the trouble.

There's a reason why that phone, and all the others, are compared to iPhones as to what they can and can't do.

iPhone 4 has the ability to kill apps built in.

With a jailbroke iPhone and sbSettings, you can turn on and off all the various antennae on the fly. Edge, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc. All can affect battery life. You can control and customize a lot of things through sbSettings.

iPhone 4 has a much better battery life than the earlier ones.

android 2.2 has that ability also (kill apps and turn on/off all antannae) - not trying to argue about which is better

People who complain about battery life aren't used to smart phones from what I've seen. A lot of them came from a basic Nokia style or flip. They don't seem to comprehend the functions and demands on a faster performing phone. I won't even compare to the iPhone as it usually comes down to arguments like is synthetic or non-synthetic oil better or Ford vs Chevy.

I was thinking about disconnecting my land line at home and using the phone number on an EVo, but Sprint can not do that. According to the guy at the Sprint store they can only transfer mobile numbers?

actually, i have read that a task killer makes the battery run out faster on android 2.2 phones because the phone automatically starts the apps back up after a short time. i dont run one on my droidx and dont have battery issues at all.

gonna uninstall task killer and see if i see a diff. i have the reg droid. waiting for the droid x from santa.

Had an Iphone 3gs and it was fine if you only did what apple wanted you to do, hacked the phone but was a Pita everytime I needed an appstore app switching back and forth. Switched to a Captivate and never looked back. It all depends what you want to do but I prefer the Android but the wife will not let go of her iphone.

A few friends have the EVO and their biggest gripe is the battery, but other than that they love it. The captivate does an awesome job at battery utilization I sync over a hundred emails a day, txt, talk and surf and still end up with 70%+ battery left.

do you have your iphone 4 unlocked also ? does jailbroken mean that? sorry i dont know what everything means

I have the droid X and uninstalled the app killer after updating to 2.2. and I actually have noticed my phone lasting a full 2 days before having to charge it again. Before the update I had to charge every night.

and no way to silence it without pulling the phone out and unlocking it first.... which is terribly tedious when walking in and out of courtrooms, atty offices, etc. carrying files.

Not sure why you are having to unlock the phone first. I silence mine all the time by just pushing either of the volume buttons on the side when it starts to ring.


Another cool app that I like is Lookout. I got it when it was free so not sure what the charge is now but basically an anti-virus app that also alows you to backup all your data. The best feature I like on it is you can log into your account from computer and locate your phone or set off a pretty loud siren if you've lost it. Siren is great when I just can't find it at home and hopefully never have to use the locator.
