    Default Place to buy plants

Anyone know of some good places to buy healthy small plants? Looking for stuff like hibiscus, ficus, misc. ferns, marigolds, pothos etc.

Shades of Green is an awesome place to just walk around. They had a weeping wisteria tree that I really want. A lady that works there showed me these neat little geraniums that smell like lemon and apple, I used the leaves in baking - yummy. They also special ordered the coolest thing on my patio - Stapelia gigantea. A huge star shaped bloom that smells like carrion. I love it.

Most nurseries will carry those plants although some are not in season right now. You have some great nurseries nearby but I think they are wholesale only. :( My biggest advice to you is to not buy from Lowes or Home Depot. Yes you can get some decent plants from them but nurseries generally have better product. There are other reasons but I'll leave it at that for now. Mortellaros(would definately recommend) in New Braunfels has a nice selection plus their prices werent too much higher than the wholesalers. Shultz(although I havent been there in years) used to carry a decent selection. I think they switched management since I have been there though.

Kevin, you got Mortellaro and Maldonado mixed. Mortellaro is the wholesale only on 35 in Schertz. Maldonado is on Zipp Rd in New Braunfels.

Stephen, Schulz in Marion should have a majority of what you are looking for and probably more. Like Kevin said though some will most likely be out of season right now.
