Gap/crack in tank frame

I have been seeing some moisture on the right side of the canopy, no leaks the wood moist on the inside right side just seemed moist.

I took off the hood and there seems to be a crack/gap on the top right corner of the plastic frame. There is no water dripping on the glass or any where else. All the silicon seems to be okay, the center brace and all look good, no signs of any thing else.

Should I be concerned? How if at all can fix/reenforce this?

that frame is just decorative, if there is no water leaking there, then it is probably ok.

I'd worry. My thinking would be: what is causing the decorative frame to gap?

When my 125g tank burst we had moved it during the day. While we moved it we heard a little noise but couldn't find anything wrong. We filled it with water, rocks, livestock, etc. and nothing happened. Everything looked fine. No leaks.

Then 8 hours later in the night the tank burst at the corner seams. :o Not a fun event! In fact if I hadn't had my next tank already on order I might have quit at that time.

My point is: investigate what might be causing this gap. If there is any kind of stress on that corner (check your center brace too) it might cause it to pull apart and while the silicone can keep it together for awhile it might eventually open.
Nothing wrong with the trim gaping but the real question is why.
Could be nothing. Or could be an indication of something serious and then you'd look back and think: should have checked that out more...

That looks like an oceanic frame?

Mine cracked too, an All Glass/Aqueon tank. The rep from the manufacturer assured me it was just cosmetic, yet agreed that it was not worth the risk and replaced in on warranty.

The oceanic frames are made very well. I've had one around, oh, probably as long as I've been around. And, no cracked frame. For an oceanic to crack its frame, somethings causing it to stress.

The frame IS just cosmetic.... but is it worth the risk?

How big is it? Some of the larger tanks have lifetime warranties. If not, may be a good chance to upgrade...

Yes is an oceanic 75g, I bought it used, would I still be covered?

I may be wrong but most warranties are to the original owner? And must be registered, and you must buy there stand to get a longer warranty? My brother-in-law has had his 55 oceanic for 20 years with no issues and the Oceanic 75 should be the same. Moving tanks around can cause trims to crack and come off.

The same brand stand is required for warranty.

Proof of purchase... that's a little fuzzy. Who keeps a receipt for 20 years? An oceanic tank looks like no other... a sales rep will know its an oceanic without your receipt saying so. If you can get them to cover your warranty depends on your relationship with them. The old oceanic tanks were quality, but the new customer service isn't what it used to be. It can't hurt to send an email and see what they say.

I'd get on the phone with the manufacturer and see if I could get a replacement.

I have a story hope it helps
148 gal custom oceanic brick 29" tall x 60" x 18"
Bosses daughter refuses to let him keep it on a aquarium stand wants a piece of furniture from wittings
I tell them it has to hold 2K pounds, and when it comes in does not look like it will but who am I to judge.
Fill up with water and liverock when we hear a crack along with two more.
We pump the water out and remove the rock and thank God no leak.
After the tank is drained the left side of the stand is lower than the tank by 1/2"
Needless to say they built a stronger piece of furniture the second time.
Anyway the tank is around ten years old now and no issues.

I would either replace tank or re-enforce it with a L bracket. Its better be safe than sorry.
