oh I like Alton's no insurance, no car idea. After all you got no insurance you don't need a car because you don't need to be driving.
I wish public transportation was better though. It's almost impossible to earn a living without a car here although I bicycled to work for a year when I lived in New Braunfels. Really cuts down on your employement choices though

the tractor trailer driver that came into my lane and almost ran over me last week got no citations, officers feel sorry for them since one ticket on their license can be bad for them

Well my insurance gave me a call today and told me the guy hasn't been returning their calls, so they will now be sending him a letter. They ran his info and verified he was uninsured, so at least my deductible will only be $250. The estimate for repairs is now at $280, is it even worth filing the claim?? I was thinking of just paying out of pocket to avoiding raising my premiums.

    Anthony,
At this point, it has already been reported to your insurance company so you can't really take it off. If you are not at fault for the accident, it should not raise your rates (at least with most insurance companies that is the case). It is always possible that they could find additional damage when they are in there doing the repair, so getting your insurance to cover it could be the smarter way to go.

Okay I stand corrected last night after teaching my night class I saw one of the transguide signs that says no texting in SA, the only problem it was on 1604 and one mile after that I was in UC? Why didn't that sign say UC also?

Because as far as I know it is only voted in for San Antonio. So far, as I see it other municipalities that meet the criteria for self voted law changes in the Traffic Code will follow suit.

I just looked it up and you are correct. I was unaware of that fact - guess they need to advertise/warn better.

I still don't see it having enough effect to make us any safer on the road.

Can't fix stupid! The people who don't respect the power of the vehicles they're in will still do dumb things and endanger people. If you don't know you shouldn't text while driving a multi thousand pound vehicle capable of killing others due to one second of inattention, and they have to pass a law, you will probably find another way to accomplish a similar act of genius.

advertise, why...then they don't make as much money. Sorry all officers on maast, but that's how it works. It's not about the laws, it's all about income. IMO. Like the famous..."your licence plate light is too dim" that is my favorite.
