I can barely text ''happy birthday' from in my kitchen. I don't see how people manage to do it while driving.
But I also find my kids really distracting. My next car should be a limo so I can get that soundproof window between front seats and back seats...

Honestly I didn't realize texting while driving was allowed so I am glad to see there will be an end to that.

My mom & I WERE hurt but not bad enough to go to the hospital for days, we got checked out by our doctor.
My mom suffered back pain -upper & lower back.
I suffered from bruises on my knees cause my knees hit the glove compartment, had to walk with a cane cause my legs were weak.
That lady must have been doing 40mph or more cause one second nobody's behind us and the next, we got hit.
Our back bumper was coming off at the ends and was knocked to the right so the trunk wouldnt close fully, had 2 dents from her front bumper, our front license plate was bent up from when we hit the person in front of us, our tail lights were smashed, front lights had cracks in them.

While driving home I was distracted by the newspaper guy, a pizza cheesehead, and a statue of liberty. It was their job to get my attention while I was driving. And then what about all those people who drive around with kids in the car distracting them. Lots of stuff out there to distract all of us, with or without a cell phone.

Anyone know if the texting ban would apply to me following along with the googlemaps turn-by-turn program on my iPhone?

I heard it also includes looking at the internet so they could probably get you there but if you left it open/active Im sure the officer would understand.

Kristy the 1st 3 months if you get pulled over from what I understand you will just get a warning. A grace period, that what they said on the news....

See if you get pulled over for using googel map and lets us know, LOL.

If your GPS is mounted you are okay, but if it is hand held you are toast.

Those young ladies that hold the pizza sign and car washing signs are sure distracting. I can't tell you how badly my truck needs washing and of course I'm always ready to eat pie.

I find that now that I can't appear to be texting I've become more of a liability. I keep swerving into the wrong lane and off the road. I wear my shades high so I can peek under the lense to my handheld, but to the outside world I appear to be looking forward.... as I swerve out of my lane. I might as well just give it up.

I've been waiting for this law to reach our city. In my line of work I drive our cities streets and highways and it never fails. I see all ages all races and all sexes. Texting and driving. It only takes 5 seconds of distraction to cause an acident. I see them everyday. Accidents everywhere. Moms dads brothers sisters grandmas well you get the idea. All either injured or killed due to distractions. It has been good for body shops wreckers ems insurance etc but what about the peoples lives that are lost ? Pedestrians that are hit while walking or riding ? I'm all for this law but don't see how it will be inforced when amongst all those people I see texting everyday I also see MANY of our SAPD patrol cars doing the same !
