Default Sixline wrasse vs Fairy wrasse

So for my birthday I got a lubbocks and a bluesided fairy wrasse. After being introduced into the tank last night I turned off the lights and they all hid. Today when I got home and fed I saw them all(also got a royal gramma) out already. Good sign. But here is the kicker. The sixline chases the fairy wrasses around. I am comfortable with tangs doing this as it stops within a day or two but dont know too much about sixline vs. fairy. My two different species leopards wrasses would chase each other but that stopped after about a week? Should I expect the same from these guys?

I also thought about taking the sixline to the sump for awhile? But will need a fish trap to catch him for sure.

Since the fairy wrasses were a gift I would much rather have them than the sixline anyways.

I also would prefer the fairy wrasse over the sixline. Every sixline I have had has been a bully...so I don't go 6 anymore.

Our sixline tried that for a while too and eventually one of the fairy wrasses stopped running and turned to face him. That was the end of that.

Your odds are that they will settle down because 1. The fairy wrasses are presumably bigger than the sixline and 2. You introduced two at the same time so he has to split his attention between them. Keep a close eye on them and send the sixline to a timeout in the sump if it seems to be getting worse rather than better. Sure wouldn't want to cause one of your new fairies to jump.

Congrats on the new wrasses and happy birthday, by the way!

Im my 180g I have a Pink Streak Wrasses aka 4 Line, Lemon Meringue Wrasse, Red Corris Wrasse and a Christmas wrasse. I have no problems at all. Im sure it wont last long.

If you are worried about it place the 6line in the sump for a week and then add him back, give the Fairy time to establish a territory....

Ray, like you I had several wrasses in my old 90g - Clown Fairy, Christmas, 6line, Cleaner, a Carpenter's Wrasse, and a Candy Hog. No issues at all.

Kevin, like others have said, keep an eye on it and they will most likely work it out. Just make sure you have a good cover on the tank just in case one of the fairy wrasses decides to leap. I have heard several people say that they had aggressive 6lines, but I got lucky and bought the wussy 6line.

Update-Well it didnt really get better so I yanked him out. That worked very well with the fish trap. I didnt feed yesterday so a few pellets in the trap and I had him out within 20 minutes. At one point all my tangs were in the trap which was pretty funny to watch. After running a errand I was happy to see both wrasses out and about. I quickly fed the tank and they ate well.
