Snail eggs

Do these ever hatch or should I go ahead and clean the glass. This is the first time I've had these on the glass.

Snail eggs
They'll hatch if something doesn't get them first. And after they hatch something usually gets most of the babies.
I see tiny snails all the time, but I can't say if any survive long enough to get big. I'm guessing crabs get them while there still young.

I bet it's from Cerith Snails. Mine lay trails like that all the time. I wish there was a use for them but I haven't found one yet. The fish don't eat them and no baby snails emerge (I think most snails have some sort of planktonic or larval stage that needs to be supported by nutrients/plankton usually not found in our tanks so only very few types of snails manage to reproduce in the aquarium like Collonista, etc. that have a shorter larvae stage)
Enjoy looking at it or simply scrape it.

Here's some info on Collonista snails (in case you want some that reproduce):
http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/SwSnails/Collonista.php
The Collonista snails are the ones people tend to see in the tank and assume they're the babies of our other snails (myself included)

Snail eggs
Karin, thanks for the link. I used to have hundreds of these little snails. Always wondered what kind they were. I've not seen any or many since tearing the tank down last summer for the tile work in the room.
I will check tonight and see if I've still got them.

I have some that look like mini nassarius snails that reproduce very fast and often.
