with the free wireless tether, do you still have to pay the $20 monthly tethering fee to the provider (i am on verizon)?

Ace its included in ur mobile data plan on ur bill. U can use the wireless tether for free u just can't open sites like ur bank or email. But on the Droid x the screen big enough u don't need another comp.

still new to this. my data plan is unlimited for the phone, but they charge $20 a month for tethering (currently not paying for that). i was just wondering if that free tether app was a way around that $20 a month charge. i agree, with the screen size of the phone, really dont need to use anything else anyway.

yes its a way around it. my laptop runs just as fast as my fone does when connected. pics take a lil longer but nothing that makes me not use it.

Re: Android Apps you use...
Ace,free WiFi tether is free and you do not get charged to use it.as long as you have unlimited data.just be careful and don't go overboard.it might throw a red flag.I'm sure you'd have to be rooted to use it.let me look around a little and I'll let you know the specifics

Re: Android Apps you use...
It definitely has to be rooted.there is a very simple 3 or 4 step guide to root on xda developers.the app is called wireless tether for root users.
